Bark U Training Tip #23:
Your dog should have to earn their freedom in your home. Puppies should be confined to crate while potty training. Too much freedom will lead to accidents and desctructive behavior. Puppies in particular should be supervised at all times so your correction for negative behavior happens as your witness the behavior.
Use baby gates and close unoccupied rooms to confine your dog to the same room as you. The best way to minimize incidents is to tether your dog to you with their collar and leash until they earn the freedom by learning the correct behavior.
Keep up with the latest in pet care news as well as helpful hints for a happier pet.
When walking through doorways, never EVER let your dog walk in front of you. You are sending a message to your dog that they are the pack leader not you! Remember to always make your dog wait before stepping through.
